This is site is dedicated to those haulage bashers from the 1970's and 1980's, especially those "top men" that did Westerns and Class 40's.
When this site was first set up a couple of years back, it was totally nostalgic and everything on it was at least 15 years out of date.
That was before the year 2002, when we have had the incredible spectacle of not just D1015 Western Champion hauling 6 railtours but also scheduled EWS freight trains, and even rescuing a GWT HST. All this for the first time since Feb 26th 1977.
Just when things could get no more DREADFUL, on Nov 30th, restored Class 40, D345 worked its first mainline working for 20 years, heralding the return of EE Type 4's for the first time since 1988.
All this would not have been possible with the hard work and dedication of the DIESEL TRACTION GROUP and the CLASS 40 PRESERVATION SOCIETY. A sincere well done to both of these groups in recreating so many people's misspent youth.
