| We start our journey at 15.10 at London Kings
Cross. Here is 40145 awaiting departure for York. |
 |
| From a different angle |
 |
| After a high-speed run to York, 40145 takes a
well earned rest before the passengers head for the city's main
hostelries. |
 |
| Early, the following morning, 40145 prepares to
depart, heading for London Liverpool St, via Peterborough and Cambridge. |
 |
| At around 12.30 we arrived at Liverpool St |
 |
| After a 2.5 hour break whilst both loco and
passengers "took on fuel" we were ready to depart for what was
billed as a non-stop run to Norwich. The run to Norwich was the
highlight of the tour, timed at just 104 minutes, 7 minutes faster than
scheduled...... |
 |
| ....... This was greatly helped by the decision
to "loop" the 15.00 Liverpool St-Norwich electrically hauled
express service train for us at Colchester !!!!! Whoever made
that decision I take my hat off to you sir! Here we see '145 on
arrival at Norwich. |
 |
| After reversing the train we set off again, and after only
an hour arrived at Ely, where once more our train reversed. Here we
see '145 about to set off for Peterborough and stations to York. |
 |
| Arriving at York shortly before 11pm there was a chance to
catch up with some old friends...... |
 |
| The following morning and after a leisurely breakfast it was
time to head south once more. Here is '145 awaiting departure in the
sunshine. |
 |
| Again we travelled via Ely and Cambridge and again we
stopped at Ely. Here is '145 enjoying a short break in the sun. |
 |
| Finally we arrived back at Kings Cross, having spent 3 days
behind 40145. The loco never missed a beat and sounded superb
throughout. |
